Tamiko Nimura, a third-generation Japanese American, (and second-generation Filipina American) is a freelance writer from northern California and now living in Tacoma. Her work has appeared in many outlets including HistoryLink, Discover Nikkei, Ghosts of Seattle Past, the International Examiner, The Rumpus, and HYPHEN. She is writing a memoir about her family’s wartime incarceration history at Tule Lake and co-writing a graphic novel for Seattle’s Wing Luke Asian Museum. Her ongoing work on Tacoma’s Japanese American history is at tacomajapaneseamericanhistory.net.


Vince Schleitwiler, a fourth-generation Japanese American from Chicago, currently teaches ethnic studies at the University of Washington, and lives in Beacon Hill, Seattle with his family. He has written for the International Examiner, Village Voice, African American Review, Amerasia Journal, Comparative Literature, the Center for Art and Thought, and other outlets, and his book, Strange Fruit of the Black Pacific, was published by NYU Press in 2017.
