Bush Garden (#14)

On June 9, 1957, father and son Kaichi and Ron Seko opened their Japanese restaurant, Bush Garden. At the time, it was Seattle’s largest Japanese restaurant with 40 tatami rooms on two floors, and its legendary karaoke nights have been an anchor for the neighborhood since 1970. Its importance to generations of cocktail drinkers and karaoke performers—and the relationships that have been forged out of both—show how drinks and the culture around them continue to be foundational to the community.
