Established in 1992, Jalisco is one of the oldest Mexican restaurants in Seattle. Recognized all over town, Jalisco is owned and operated by a friendly family who treat patrons as if they were sitting for lunch at their home table. Inside this long-standing South Park business, colorful decorations and vibrant smells remind Latinos of the colors and tastes of homemade food and the warm service of their people. Several Mexican restaurants operated in Seattle in the 1970s and 1980s, but most of those early ones had to relocate due to redevelopment pressures or have simply closed over time.
The building where Jalisco patrons now enjoy their meals has also been part of the South Park commercial district since 1920. It has had various commercial tenants over the years, including a paint store.
