This modest one story building houses a bright and colorful restaurant and grocery store filled with goods from Latino countries. Meals prepared on-site are available to take home, and a friendly staff greets you as you make your way through the aisles filled with products that remind Latinos of home. La Canasta’s building was constructed in 1947 as the Chelsea Food Center grocery and remodeled by the early 1950s, again as a grocery store.
