Built in 1914, the NP Hotel was a popular choice with visiting dignitaries and baseball teams from Japan. There were six Japanese-operated hotels in Seattle as early as 1900; by 1925, there were 127. Husband-and-wife proprietors worked day and night to clean lobbies and rooms, make the beds, and do the laundry. The building, now managed by InterIm Community Development Association, serves as affordable housing today.
