Olympic Hot Springs

Found by hunter Andrew Jacobsen in 1892 but forgotten until June 25, 1907 when William Everett, Thomas Farrel and Charles Anderson located them. These men gave the springs their present name because they were in the Olympic Mountains, were hot and were springs. The springs were acquired by the National Park Service in 1966 and all “developments” were removed.

By the 1940s, a hotel and a group of cabins surround a concrete swimming pool. Both mud and mineral baths are available.

Abandoned several decades ago, only traces remain of the resort that once lured bathers to the site. The hot springs, however, still exist, although access is more difficult than it used to be: Follow Olympic Hot Springs Rd. until it ends, then walk approximately 2–4 miles, depending on the season. The hot springs (clothing-optional) are a just reward to any who venture in.
