The southwest extension of Port Orchard Bay adjoining Bremerton on the south in south central Kitsap County is called Sinclair Inlet. The inlet was mapped by the Wilkes Expedition as Sinclair’s Inlet, for George T. Sinclair, who had been Acting Master in three of the expedition’s ships. He was dismissed from the United States Navy as a Lieutenant on April 16, 1861.
