A resort area on Port Susan south of Stanwood. A one-mile tidal runout creates warm water on incoming tides, which gives reason for the name.

By the 1940s the surrounding area was sparsely settled country, where stretches of small, second-growth forests alternate with pasture land and occasional farms.
