The place was named for Cora Davis, wife of Levi A. Davis, and the first married woman to settle in the Big Bottom country or for Levi’s niece Cora M. Ferguson Patterson The Davis family founded the community in 1886. A post office operated between June 11, 1890 and November 30, 1908.
