Tour runs through a dense forest of cedar, pine, and fir. Many of the trees tower 200 feet or more in the air, and the branches interlace so closely that only random shafts of sunlight can penetrate to the ground.

Lake Creek flows from the northwest end of Packwood Lake northwest to join the Cowlitz River northeast of Packwood.
