Wannacut Lake

The community of Wannacut Lake consisted mostly of a post office for early-day miners and was once located at the south end of Wannacut Lake. It later was supplanted by Wehesville.

The lake is two miles long and over 410 acres in size and is slightly saline with a brine level about one third the concentration of sea water. Named for Edward Wanicutt, a well-known prospector and mine owner in Okanogan County. Wanacutt has been spelled several different ways.
