A small resort center in the glen at the base of Goat Peak. Goose Prairie is on the Bumping River. Thomas Fife had a homestead on the prairie and it was named "...because he saw a lone goose flying..." The prairie later became more well known when was written about by U.S. Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas who had a summer home there.
Learn more about Goose PrairieA tiny settlement on the shore of Bumping Lake, in the heart of the Cascade Mountains. The lake serves as a reservoir for irrigation purposes in the lower Yakima Valley. Numerous mountain trails lead from here. In 1856, it was mapped as Lake Plehnam, and, in 1897, as Tannum Lake. Other names once used include Tanum and Taneum.
